Thank you for caring about our school and the children we serve. The information below will help you understand how your donation will be put to use. Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of the classes and specialists offered at Monroe Montessori School, Inc., a for profit corporation founded in 1978. In order to keep tuition lower than other Montessori schools in the surrounding area, we carefully watch our expenses and volunteers help raise additional funds through donations. Donations may be made to one of two school organizations: Monroe Montessori School, Inc. or Monroe Montessori Parent Booster Club,Inc.(PBC) a non profit 501c3 corporation. Money donated to the Monroe Montessori School, Inc. directly benefits the students attending our school but is not tax deductible. Money donated to the PBC allows you to make a tax deductible contribution that directly benefits the Monroe Montessori School.
Money gifted to the school through PBC action or directly from you, is used in a variety of ways each year. Typically money goes towards such things as consumable and non consumable classroom materials, school campus items, special projects, outdoor areas, general administration of school programs, payroll expenses for educational specialists, staff education, assemblies, field trips, transportation expenses, partial scholarships or other items as needed. Funds donated to the school are classified as unrestricted funds for use by the school. It is school policy that donated items are not tracked, labeled, or identified as being gifted by a specific donor or organization.
Donations given to Monroe Montessori School are given freely, in a spirit of generosity with the understanding that funds will be used by the school to directly benefit the education of young children. Unless so stated money raised through the PBC goes into the general funds of the Parent Booster Club,Inc. where a volunteer board makes the decision on how much of the funds raised through the PBC will be gifted to the school. While the PBC takes responsibility for helping raise money and approve its own fund raising budgets, it does not implement or direct the enrichment of the educational experience of students attending Monroe Montessori School nor does it have direct influence or input on the school's budgeting process. Requests for funds from the PBC by the school are given in one of three general categories: enrichment program support, classroom material purchase, other.
The administration’s desire is to put your donation, regardless of whether it is through Monroe Montessori School, Inc or the Monroe Montessori Parent Booster Club, to the best and highest use possible as we strengthen our programs and school. Flexibility in use of budgeted or gifted funds is a condition of acceptance by the school. Use of your donation for specific items may cost less than anticipated and result in money being used to purchase additional items for the classroom or items may cost more than anticipated resulting in fewer items being purchased. In addition, items may end up not being purchased immediately after a donation is made if unforeseen obstacles are encountered sometimes resulting in a lengthy delay. In rare cases money raised for a specific purpose changes over time as more information becomes evident as to its efficacy and the stated goal is no longer pursued. In such cases the money, if granted to the school for the stated use is not used, it is returned to the general budget of the Parent Booster Club and noted in a school newsletter or on the school's website. Gifts of money or other items to the school by parents, the PBC, or other donors does not constitute a contract or promise by Monroe Montessori School, Inc. or its staff to offer specific class or program levels, employment of specific teachers or assistants, use of specific vendors or specific contractors or implementation of a school improvement by a certain date unless such date is specified in writing. If donated funds result in obligations that interfere with the direct operation and goals of Monroe Montessori School, Inc., the school reserves the right to return the donation and to modify its policies.
We will use your gift to the best of our ability to strengthen our programs and our school. Your generosity will make a wonderful difference in the programs and experiences we offer our young students!
Thank you for helping us!
